McDaniel, Margaret Inez Haney

Margaret Inez Haney McDaniel, 79, of Ft. Oglethorpe, died Monday, December 11, 2017 in a local health care facility.  She was retired from Dupont Corporation after 28 years, and also worked at Apple Estate Sales. 

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph Eugene McDaniel;  a great-grandson: Kaleb Putnam-Homberg; four brothers and two sisters. 

She is survived by three daughters: Terri (James) Bird, Flintstone;  Teresa (Jerry) Putnam, Ft. Oglethorpe;  Donna (Glenn) Gregory, Ringgold; a brother:  Robert (Mary) Haney, Henegar, Al.; six grandchildren:  Whitney, Shauntell, Meredith, Margaret, Hunter, and Thatcher; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Kyle Taylor officiating.  Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Young Gets 23 Years In North Chattanooga Murder

Abram "AB" Young pleaded guilty on Tuesday morning to a murder in North Chattanooga and was sentenced to 23 years in prison. Young was 17 at the time of the 2015 slaying of 19-year-old Charles Holsey during a drug deal behind the Kangaroo on Dallas Road. He is now 20.
