Ray Hudgens
Ray Hudgens, 101, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
Ray had been a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was a longtime baseball and fast pitch softball player and coach. Ray was inducted into the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of fame and the ASA Hall of fame for fast pitch softball.
Ray owned Pop’s Drive-in in East Ridge and had also worked for the City of East Ridge as building inspector for over 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Quim Hudgens; son, Kenneth Fieldon Hudgens and his parents, Toliver and Kitty Hudgens; siblings Woodie Hudgins, Molly Mae Walker, Francesola Rich, Louise Miller, Amelia Nell Hunt, Toliver Ray Hudgens, Jackie Lee Hudgens and Robert Hudgens.
Survivors include his son, Bobby (Stephanie) Hudgens; daughter-in-law, Mary R. Hudgens; grandchildren, Kris (Laura) Hudgens, Kim (Scott) Johnson, Sheena (Dusty) Rowland, Christian Hudgens and Lauren (Doug) Stithem; great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Johnson, Sims Bradley Johnson, Peyton Pryor, Blakely Pryor, Presley Rowland, Kensley Rowland, Trystan Rowland, Kingston Rowland, Hayden Hudgens, Holland Stithem and Judah Stithem; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Shad Smith and the Rev. Jim Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at the funeral home.
