Two Covenant Athletes Named Players of The Week

The Collegiate Conference of the South announced its weekly awards on Tuesday with two Covenant College student-athletes among the honorees. 

Ben Onufrock was named CCS Men's Tennis Player of the Week while Emily Lane won CCS Women's Field Rookie of the Week. 

In Covenant's lone match against Maryville, the Scots won 9-0 with Onufrock earning two points in the No. 1 slot. In doubles he teamed up with Austin Dreslinski to beat Jackson Meyer and James Smith 8-1. In singles he defeated Smith 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5).
This is the second week in a row and the third time this year, Onufrock has earned this honor. 

At the Mountain Laurel Open, Lane finished third in the Discus event with a school-record throw of 35.50m. She also placed sixth in the Javelin event with a throw of 27.70m. This is the first time in her career that she has won this award.

Men's Tennis returns to the court on Friday for the Semifinals of the CCS Tournament in Chattanooga while Track and Field competes in the Cole Piper Open on Saturday at Maryville.
