Michael Thomas Carraher
Michael Thomas Carraher, 70, of Hixson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Michael was born in New York, New York on January 16, 1954. He lived in Belgium from 10 years old to 19 years of age. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1977 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Michael gave 28 years of service to the Chattanooga Police Department and retired in 2008 as a lieutenant. Michael loved his family more than anything and was a devoted husband and father. He loved television, movies, and anything WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Maurice Carraher and Juliette Decerf Carraher.
Michael is survived by his wife, Virginia S. Carraher, children, Kate Carraher (Michael) Rowland and Don C. “Trey” (Marisa) Abbott III, grandchildren, Don C. “Luke” Abbott IV, Elyjah Christian Abbott, Emma Scott Rowland, Lily Monroe Rowland, sisters, Michelle Carraher and Maureen (Stanley) Carraher Hinds, nieces and nephews, Tom De Haes, Michael De Haes (godson) Martine De Haes , Scott Hinds (godson), and Shaun Hinds (godson), and stepchildren, Rusty Noth and Julie Alves.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home on Thursday, April 18, from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, at 11 a.m.
