The Southeast Whitfield High School Theatre Department will open its hilarious farcical comedy "CLUE" for a five-performance, two-weekend-long run Friday.

The play, written by Sandy Rustin and based on Jonathan Lynn’s screenplay, follows a fun, whodunnit murder mystery when six strangers arrive at Boddy Manner per the request of a mysterious blackmailer. The know-it-all butler, Wadsworth (Carter Greeson), then leads the group’s festivities for the evening, which includes drinks, dinner, conversation and murder.

According to director, Adam Cook, the play is based on the cult 1980s film and classic board game.

“It’s a fun night of theatre and we hope folks will come out and support these great kids” Mr.
Cook said. “Our students have worked really hard on this show, both on stage and behind the curtain. I’m excited for parents, friends and the community as a whole to experience this show with us.”

Set in 1950s Washington, D.C. during the McCarthy Era, the cast includes the characters everyone knows and loves – Mrs. Peacock (Keily Owen), Miss Scarlet (Hadley Highfield), Mrs. White (Haley Wimpey), Professor Plum (Aiden Longobardo), Col. Mustard (Elijah Tucker), Mr. Green (Kyler Bradley) and Yvette the maid (Morgan Dempsey). The cast also features Jamie Knotts, Cindy Paniagua, Bryan Duenas, Hayden Harrier, Chloe Kelley, Cloe Knotts, Charli Lewis, Peyton Ramirez and Destiny Chairez.

“We have these great, high-energy characters running through this mansion trying to not only stay alive, but also figure out who is after them,” Mr. Cook said. “It’s a lot of fun, and the kids have put a lot of great work into bringing this show to life. I’m very proud of both the cast and the crew.”

Opening weekend performances will take place at the SHS Auditorium Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday at 2 p.m. The second weekend will offer performances May 3-4 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $9 online or $12 at the door.

The show has a run-time of 90 minutes with one 10-minute intermission.

“It’s a great show, so we hope the community will show up to have some laughs with all these amazing kids we have here at Raider Nation,” Mr. Cook said.
