Annie Sue Nicholson Townsend, 76, of Fairmount, Georgia, passed away on April 9, 2024, after several months of declining health.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Ponders Fairmount Chapel 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday, April 13, 2024. The funeral service will be held at the Ponders Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Reggie Temples and Reverend Wilburn Ridings officiating. Burial will follow at Salacoa Baptist Cemetery with Zeke Townsend, Tony Hughes, Curtis Awtrey, Brody Russell, Tommy Nicholson, and Dillon Logan serving as pallbearers.

Annie Sue was born September 17, 1947, in Bartow County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Jewel Gibson Nicholson. She was also preceded in death by daughter Sarah Townsend Hughes and infant son Johnny Mark Townsend. Along with brother James Nicholson and sisters Betty Lou Thompson, Martha Cronon, Elaine Chastain, and Carolyn Nichelson.

She is survived by her husband Bruce Townsend. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 2. Sons Ronald (Kim)Townsend of Calhoun, Pete (Vicki)Townsend of Ranger and daughter Angie(CD) Renner of Fairmount. Annie Sue had six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several sisters-in law, and many nieces and nephews.

Annie Sue was of the Baptist faith and a member of Salacoa Baptist Church. She worked in the carpet industry and retired from NoTrax in 2014. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She treasured the time spent with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
