Catherine Hopping Adamson Parker, 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Jean, Billy, and Pat, and grandson, Benjamin.

Although Cathy was a transplant from the Midwest, she quickly adapted to life in the South. Forever creative and resourceful, she and a partner were among the first to pioneer the development of Frazier Avenue by opening Two Bridges Gallery shortly after the restoration of the Walnut Street Bridge into a pedestrian walking bridge in 1993. She was similarly instrumental in the early retail operations of the Tennessee Aquarium after years of experience creating and managing the numerous specialty gift shops at the Chattanooga Choo Choo during the 70’s and 80’s. She was later recruited by The Scientific Center in Kuwait and spent several years working abroad. Always light years ahead of her time, Cathy will be remembered for her independence, her style, her brains, her wit, and her impeccable taste as she gracefully maneuvered through life. She was an avid reader, a devoted friend, and a champion of grass root causes. She held a deep appreciation for the arts and all things natural. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her five children, John (Barbara) Adamson, Jeanie Adamson Brakebill, Mary (Jeff) Cooper, Jennifer (Tommy) Hobbs, and Chris (Bryn) Adamson. She will be remembered by her many grandchildren, Zack Adamson, Shelley Downs, Jay Adamson, Elliott Brakebill, Laura Lee Brakebill, Madeline Mooneyhan, Thomas Cooper, Zak Hobbs, Rachael Hobbs, Owen Honroth, Delia Adamson and Ava Adamson.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, May 4, at Rising Fawn Gardens, 521 Cureton Mill Road, Rising Fawn, Ga., from 12-3 p.m.. Remembrances and Sentiments will be at 1 p.m.
