Caught In The Middle Between BCBS And CHI Memorial

  • 5/18/2024

Many of us are currently caught in the middle between two Chattanooga community leaders, Blue Cross Blue Shield and CHI Memorial Hospital. With little to know warning and with even less understanding, patients who depend on both organizations for their cooperation and assistance are left outside looking in with little time to react or respond. Over the past week, I have received lengthy communications from both parties “explaining” each’s position in not being able to come to an agreement. The short version - both parties blame the other. How insightful. How original. How helpful. During my professional business career, I participated in nearly a dozen employee bargaining agreements ... (click for more)

More Money Won't Solve CARTA's Problems

  • 5/17/2024

All good Chattanoogans are dismayed at the news that CARTA may go "out of business." Whatever will we do without enormous, loud, empty buses clogging up our very narrow streets? The opportunity cost will be too great. How else will homeless prostitutes be CArried Rapidly Through the Area? How else will I get the opportunity to receive a structured settlement from a public transportation company? I'll have to go to Atlanta, by bus or rail, of course. As a poor person I will tell you: people don't ride CARTA because the city is obscenely and hilariously filthy and dangerous, not because the buses haven't yet installed this month's fashionable cashless payment system. CARTA is ... (click for more)

Needed CARTA Changes

I am old and wobbly at times. I am afraid to ride the bus. It already costs too much money - we seniors only get so much to get us through the month. Just leaving my house is dangerous, let alone walk to the end of the street, turn a corner, walk to the next street, cross that and then cross again to get to the bus stop. The driver never ... Leader Whitfield Seeking To Repeat At Signal Mountain Invitational
  • 5/18/2024

While Thad Whitfield’s golfing exploits have enabled him to compete on some of the best courses in the Southeast, there is no place like home. The McCallie School senior who will take his talents to MTSU in the fall first learned the game as a youth knocking around Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club. His familiarity with the course was evident on Saturday as Whitfield shot 8-under 63 to enter the final round of the Signal Mountain Men’s Invitational with a three-stroke lead in seeking ... more
