Scenic City Women's Network hosted its annual Praise! Breakfast at the Chattanooga Convention Center on Thursday featuring Keynote Speaker Demi-Leigh Tebow.

She is a Christian entrepreneur, author and Miss Universe 2017.

The speaker, who is married to football star Tim Tebow, said she grew up in a small town in South Africa. After attending a boarding school, she launched a successful cupcake business and also sold toilet paper.

Ms. Leigh Tebow said when vying for Miss Universe she helped improve her English by telling her family to only speak English to her for three months. She also taught herself how to do her own hair and nails since that was required during the competition.

She said her life was transformed after going into a pastor's study and noticing the sign: Kingdom Over Brand. She said it reminded her that branding is "all about me," but "Kingdom work is being selfless."

She said, "Don't chase perishable crowns. Invest in people."

Jane Henegar was honored with the annual Lydia Award. She was introduced by her daughter, Emily Henegar, of Nashville.

A Texas native, she has lived in Chattanooga for more than 56 years. During her 30-year career as a Bible teacher at Girls Preparatory School, she was described as "a powerful influencer in hundreds of young lives."

Some 670 attended the breakfast.
