Allen Johnson, 73, was born in Eclectic, Alabama, and passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in a local hospital in Chattanooga.
He was a graduate of Howard High School. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy Reserves and retired as a Navy Seabee. He also retired from the City of Chattanooga. Allen was well known as a concrete finisher in Georgia and Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. (Johnnie Mae) Johnson; sister, Louise Russell, sister-in-law, Omethia Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Ollie Johnson; sons, Allen Lamar Johnson and Alvin Johnson both of Chattanooga; daughters, Tawanda (Jessie) McDonald of Nashville and Tanisha Johnson of Chattanooga; step-children, Fredrick (Patricia) Ervin of Chattanooga, Sharon L. Ervin of North Carolina and Ethel L. Ervin of Chattanooga; brothers, John “Joe” Johnson, Larry (Alice) Johnson, Jessie Johnson and Junior Rollins; sister, Evelynia (Steve) Thurmond; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Norwood and Vivian (John) Jones of Chattanooga; long-time friends, Jerry Hicks, Tyrone Wilkerson, Frank Brogden, and Aaron Atkinson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Visitation is on Wednesday, July 18, at noon at the Taylor Funeral Home.
The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
