James Clark

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our precious father, James (Jimmy) Burkett Clark, 74, of Cleveland, Tn. He joined his beloved bride, Brenda Clark, in their heavenly home peacefully surrounded by his family in Brentwood, Tn. His devotion to his lifelong sweetheart was unmatched. For almost 48 years they shared life's joys and pains. Through it all, their steadfast love gave them strength and faith which only grew stronger throughout their lives. They spent much time faithfully and tirelessly praying for others.

Jim was a graduate of Bradley Central High School. He completed apprenticeship from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Ship Builders and was a very talented heliarch welder. After several debilitating heart attacks, he retired at age 39.

Jim was initiated as a Mason in the Athens, Masonic Lodge where he enjoyed serving his fellow Masons.

He was a lifelong member of the North Cleveland Church of God. His great grandfather was the late William F. Bryant who was a founding member of the early Pentecostal Holiness Church in North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burkett Clark; his mother, Geneva Clark; sister, Christine Clark; and wife, Brenda Clark (died 6-13-18).

He is survived by his son, Jonathan Clark and wife, Jeneva; daughter, Lisa Williams and husband Travis of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter Allison Hayes and husband, Matt, of Brentwood, TN; son, Chris Painter and wife Joyce of Cleveland; sisters Rebecca Green (husband Jack), JoAnne Webb Bryson (husband Jimmy), and brother Johnny Miller (wife Linda); grandchildren, Victoria Swany, Elliott and Brynley Hayes, and Clark and William Harris as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at Companion Funeral Home at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, Tn. 37311.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel at 335 11th Street, Cleveland. Pastor Mitch Maloney will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Cleveland, Tn.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Jimmy or your condolences with his family at his online memorial at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Clark family with these arrangements.
