Carolyn Cornwell Yates, 91, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Murfreesboro. She was a member of Faith Memorial Church, where she served as church secretary for 40 plus years. Heaven gained an angel with a heart of gold when she went home to be with her only true love, Howard. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Yates; parents, Sam Cornwell and Maude Cornwell Elliff; sisters, Marie Louise Elliff, Catherine French; and brothers, Louis William Elliff (Bill), Edsel Elliff (Ed), James Elliff (Jay) and Clarence Elliff (Cash). 

Cherishing her memory are her two daughters, Lucretia (Lucy) Ann Crawford of Cleveland and Mary Louise Hicks (Troy) of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Michael Stanton Neyman (Sandy) of Athens, Caroline Michelle Neyman (Terry Dorman) of Pensacola, Fl., Caroline Kimberly Hicks Leverette (Mike) Murfreesboro, Troy Hagan Hicks (Cari) of Murfreesboro; great-grandchildren: Joshua Choat, Lauren Taylor Young, Connor Hicks, Chelsea Thelen (Joe), Chance Hulan, Christain Passmore (Nattalie), Michael Passmore, Kevin Passmore (Ciera), Crystal Clarey (Matt), Lacey Figele (Adam), Chynna Smith (Travis), great- great-grandchildren: Brae Choat, Kaden Choat, Maci Thelen, M.J. Thelen, Emery Grace Smith, Makenna Passmore, Logan and Emma Clarey and Hannah, Gavin, Indy and Stark Fiegle; and a very special friend Julia Ann Taylor also numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 17, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Randolph & Son Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. prior to the service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
