Yetta Levin Gropper, born July 2, 1925, passed away on January 18, 2018.

She was the devoted wife of Howard, mother of Gary (Vicki) and Cheryl (Alan), grandmother of Josh, Zach, Brittany, Lexie, Abbe, and Ari. Affectionately known to those who loved her as “Yetti,” she was born in Galveston, Tx. to Sol and Belle Levin, and was sister to Max Levin (deceased).

After high school graduation Yetta worked as a court stenographer at the US Corps of Engineers in Galveston. Yetta and Howard married in 1948. Over the years she was employed in a variety of executive administrative and secretarial positions, including 14 years as secretary to the president of the Red Food Stores.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, baking, cooking, baseball, bowling, gardening, and her religious faith. Yetta was a very active member of Congregation B’nai Zion as both a teacher and a baker. In addition she was a longtime volunteer at Memorial Hospital, for over 14 years, and enjoyed the privilege of working with patients directly. Yetta’s sense of humor and her warmth, compassion, and care for those around her will be dearly missed.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a,m, on Sunday, Jan. 21, at B’nai Zion, 114 McBrien Road, Chattanooga. Interment will follow the ceremony at B’nai Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to B’nai Zion or your favorite charity would be appreciated.
