The Chattanooga Photographic Society Opens The Youth Photography Showcase

  • Monday, January 23, 2017

The Photographic Society of Chattanooga has opened the 2017 Youth Photography Showcase, in its 11th year.

In order to get young people involved in photography, the Photographic Society of Chattanooga sponsors the Youth Photography Showcase each year for students in grades nine-12.  "The goal is to highlight outstanding photographs from high school age students in grades nine-12 in public, private and home schools, as well as in youth groups.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to share their work across all boundaries and receive recognition for their efforts," officials said.

The Youth Photography Showcase will close on Feb. 18.

The Youth Photography Showcase has 2 divisions:  digital and print.  A student may enter up to eight images in each division.  There are six categories in each division:  architecture, people/animals, scapes (landscapes, cityscapes, and waterscapes), photojournalism, color photographer’s choice or creative and monochrome photographer’s choice, or creative.

For details, forms and rules, go to www.chattanoogaphoto.org, click on “Activities”, click on “Photo Contests” and then click on “Youth Photography”, or go to www.chattanoogaphoto.org/Activities/Contests/Youth_Photography/youth.php.

Prints are to be turned in Feb. 18, from 10 a.m.-noon at St. John United Methodist Church, 3921 Murray Hills Dr, at the doors with the awning.  Follow the Youth Photography Showcase signs.

For questions, more details, or if unavailable to deliver prints at the designated date and time, contact Pat Gordy at youthcontest@chattanoogaphoto.org.
