Elizabeth Goodwin, 94 of East Ridge, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on the 21st of January, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Born Elizabeth Aikman, in Spring City, Tn., on July 9, 1922, she lived in East Ridge for the last 63 years.  She had been an employee with F.M. Russell Company as their bookkeeper for 30 years, a position she dearly loved. She retired at age 73. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her three sons.  She also loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a wonderful mentor to each one. She enjoyed readying and studying her Bible and was an avid reader of many genres of books. She also loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens. I think most of her friends knew her deep appreciation for the wild birds she watched and fed for so many years. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, and thoughtful person and will be missed by her family and friends. She was a member of the Chattanooga First Seventh Day Adventist Church on Standifer Gap.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Goodwin and brothers Lester Aikman and James Aikman.

She is survived by her sister, Ruby Shields of Lincoln, NE, and brother, Ralph Aikman of Apison, three sons, Paul Goodwin (Audrey) of Cleveland TN, Dale Goodwin (Thelma) of Chattanooga, and Neal Goodwin (Susan) of Hixson; eight grandchildren: Natalie Galvani, Jeremy Goodwin, Scott Goodwin, Holly Murphy,  Evan Goodwin, Sadie Goodwin, Kristen Eustice, and Lauren Eustice; eight great-grandchildren: Reagan Goodwin, Madeline Goodwin, Eliana Galvani, Noah Galvani, Miles and Lucy Eustice , and newest twins, Sophia and Heston Goodwin, along with several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations go to the Craniofacial Foundation of America; 975 E. Third Street, Chattanooga, TN  37403.

The family would like to thank Sheila Harwood for being a special friend and caregiver during the last year for Mother.  We also thank Linda Thompson and many others that helped with the care of Mother during her last years.  Special thanks go out to Dr. Distefano and her staff for the special care they have given her and Dr C Chandra for his love and care.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, followed by interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens South in Rossville.

Arrangements are under the care of the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 S. Moore Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37412 .
