Bert Henry Forester, 80, of Rossville, Georgia, died on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

Bert was born on Dec. 6, 1935, at Rock Spring, Ga., and resided in the Rossville area for many years. Before becoming disabled, he enjoyed gardening, traveling and mechanic work. Hunting, fishing and riding his lawn mower were things he missed in his later days. He was retired from Cummings Engines of Tennessee and was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga. Bert was a longstanding member of Westside Baptist Church. Bert was patriotic and considered it a great honor to have served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Bert loved his family and friends deeply, and his sweet spirit, gentle ways and love for God and country endeared him to all who knew him. He had a unique way of making you smile when you needed a smile. Bert’s sense of humor brought sunshine to all he knew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Baker and Mattie Payne Forester and his in-laws, Lee Ander and Ruth Carr Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hall Forester, and was a loving father to their three daughters and their husbands: Karen (Monty) Rigby, Greenville, SC, Connie (Tim) Couch, St. Johns, FL, Becky (Scott) Crane, Ooltewah, TN; four grandsons, Matthew (Caroline) Crane, Nashville, TN, Andrew (Lauren) Rigsby, Memphis, TN, Zachary Rigsby, Nashville, TN, and Ryan Couch, St. Johns, FL; one granddaughter, Emily (Nick) Schultz, Orlando, FL; and one great grandson Cohen Scott Crane, Nashville, TN; sister, Margaret (Tommy) Brown, Rossville, GA; brothers, Royce (Gloria) Forester, Rock Spring, GA, Robert (Brenda) Forester,  Rossville, GA: and sisters-in-law, Lois Forester, Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Anita (Larry) Underwood, Chickamauga, GA, Cindy (Rick) Moon, Dalton, GA; three brothers-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Hall, Ringgold, GA, Lee Jr. (Linda) Hall, Rock Spring, GA, Scott (Paula) Hall, Waleska, GA, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
