Tim Tebow helped the Florida Gators win two BCS championships and was named Heisman Trophy winner in 2007. Mr. Tebow was a first round draft pick with the Denver Broncos and led them to the playoffs in 2011.
He also worked as a television analyst with the SEC Network.
Mr. Tebow, the youngest of five children, was born on August 12, 1987, in Makati City in the Philippines, to American parents who were there as Baptist missionaries. He was later homeschooled by his mother, who instilled in him the family’s Christian beliefs through his early years. Those beliefs became a large part of Mr. Tebow’s life.
While active in charity work even in college, Mr. Tebow founded the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2010. The faith-based outreach group works with children in need in both the United States and the Philippines, building facilities for sick children, granting wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses and building playrooms in hospitals and orphanages, among other far-reaching charitable works.
Previous speakers for this event include: Steve Spurrier, Bruce Pearl, Pete Rose, Kirk Cameron, Lou Ferrigno, ’98 Tribute to Nat’l Champs (Coach Fulmer, Peerless Price, and Al Wilson), Nick Saban, Herschel Walker, and Peyton Manning.
