National Touring Artist Levi The Poet To Perform At Inman St. Coffeehouse

  • Wednesday, May 25, 2016
Levi The Poet, a nationally-recognized and critically-acclaimed spoken word artist, will be performing at The Salvation Army’s Inman St. Coffeehouse on June 19 as part of the coffeehouse’s summer concert series, with the proceeds of the show benefitting The Salvation Army’s local youth programs.

Levi The Poet will be performing at Inman St. Coffeehouse as part of his upcoming tour, which is titled “Don’t Sink Chapter 3.” As part of the tour, Levi The Poet will be performing his most recent album, “Correspondence (A fiction),” in its entirety.

"Having shared his songs on stages from California to New York, from Canada to New Zealand, Levi The Poet is certainly no stranger to leading his audiences in times of emotion, energy, and excitement, and he aims to bring that experience to the 'Don’t Sink' tour," officials said.

“I want this tour to be a story that people step into and find themselves immersed in,” said Levi The Poet.
“I want it to be an experience, something for people to enjoy audibly, visually, and holistically. I want them to discover their own non-fiction in this story. ”

The Giant & The Tailor and El Bandito, two local bands, will be performing alongside Levi The Poet. The Giant & The Tailor are recipients of the 2015 AMG Heritage award for “Spoken Word Song of the Year,” and El Bandito set the Inman St. Coffeehouse attendance record with their most recent concert.

"For Britain Miethe, vocalist of The Giant & The Tailor, this concert is a great example of how far the local music scene has come," officials said.

“Recently, quite a few bands and artists have emerged from Cleveland, and it’s been an honor to watch it happen,” stated Mr. Miethe. “In the last few years acts from Cleveland have opened for national bands, had their songs played on television, and really seen their craft develop to an extremely high level. Cleveland may be a ‘small town’ to some, but it has a music scene to be reckoned with.”

"At the middle of Cleveland’s music revival is Inman St. Coffeehouse, whose weekly concerts have become a tradition for many who find themselves seeking an artistic outlet on Friday and Saturday nights. Musicians such as American Idol Runner-Up Clark Beckham, Edward & Jane, The Mailboxes, The Giant & The Tailor, and El Bandito all have seen the coffeehouse play a large role in their musical journeys.

"With Inman St. Coffeehouse playing such a large role in Cleveland’s music scene, and with Levi The Poet’s mission going hand-in-hand with the work that Inman and The Salvation Army are doing in the area, bringing in Levi The Poet was a no-brainer for Inman’s Joel Rogers.," officials said.

“We are thrilled to have Levi returning to Cleveland, and specifically to his wanting to support the mission and vision of The Salvation Army by performing at their Inman St. Coffeehouse,” Mr. Rogers said. “He is a phenomenal talent, with a potent message. You do not want to miss this."

"Himself being no stranger to The Salvation Army and Inman St. Coffeehouse, Levi The Poet knew that the show was a good fit for both sides, and expressed his excitement to return to Cleveland once again," officials said.

“The last time I came through the Salvation Army's Inman St. Coffeehouse, they went above and beyond to help us make the event all of those things,” said Levi The Poet. “I'm excited to be back, make them coffee this time, and bring something new, and I hope something better, to Cleveland."

Tickets for the concert are $6 in advance, and all proceeds will directly benefit The Salvation Army’s Cleveland youth programs. Tickets can purchased at Inman St. Coffeehouse or by visiting http://levithepoet.net/tour/#tourdates.
