Gilbert Layne
Gilbert Layne of Soddy Daisy, entered into heaven on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
He was born in Garrett, Ky., on July 24, 1933, to Henry and Bettie Crisp Layne, who preceded him in death.
He was a 1952 graduate of Grundy County High School. He faithfully attended Joy Baptist Tabernacle. He was a born agin Christian and served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He retired from Combustion Engineering and ABB after 34 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army with rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 1/2 years, Carolinda Layne; and only child, Todd (Monica) Layne; and sister, Thelma (Bob) Pocus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Shellabarger officiating the funeral. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 3–8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Hamilton Funeral Home and Friday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
