Lance, Ray Donald (Athens)

Ray Donald Lance, 59, of Athens, Tennessee, died in his home on Monday, December 5, 2016.

Ray was born on Aug. 11, 1957 in LaSalle, IL to his parents Roy D. Lance Sr. and Mary Lou Lance and grew up in Rantoul, IL. Ray loved to spend his time outdoors fishing and hunting.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Patricia Rodriguez; his sons, Jacob Lance and Ben Reardon; five grandchildren; his brother, Roy D. “Jay” Lance Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime partner Naomi Browell. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Dee and Mary Lou Lance; and his brother Robert Darrell Lance.

The cremation will be handled by Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Etowah and scattering of the ashes will be held at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Rantoul, IL where his parents and brother are laid to rest.

The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations; however, a contribution can be made in his name to a charity of your choice.

Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of the arrangements.
