Roselyn “Rose” Ann Berczyk Peters, 91, of East Brainerd, died on Sunday, August 23, 2015.

A member of St. Stephens Parrish, she was a devout Catholic, devoted mother and grandmother.  Born in a small town, Browerville, Minnesota, on Aug. 9, 1924, she began her journey as a Catholic by walking to church every Sunday, holy day and to school. At age 15, she attempted to enter the convent but was refused because of her age. Upon graduating High School, she then became employed at the Kingsbury Ordinance Works Plant installing tail fins on 20 pound Frag bombs for World War II. Her boss was the late Charles O'Finley, former owner of the Major League Baseball team, the Oakland A's. They remained friends until his death in 1996.  Moving from Minnesota to Indiana, to Bristol, Va., and finally settling in Tennessee, she later went on to become an employee of Red Food Store (now known as BiLo), where she retired after 14 years of service.  She was a firm believer in donating to many, many charities but especially keeping true to her parrish at all times.

Roselyn was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Berczyk, her husband, John A. Peters III, and her daughter, Donna Jean Carroll.

Roselyn is survived by her son, John Andrew Peters IV (wife Patti Ashley); daughter, JoAnn Marie Wallace-Stephens (husband Wayne Stephens); grandchildren: John Andrew Peters V (Andy) (wife Hannah Peters); Anthony Wallace (wife Ashley McKenzie Wallace); Lee Peters, Alexis Wallace (Oodie), and Josh Wallace; great grandchildren: Lanie, Lawson and Linden Peters; Pippa and Buddy, and special friend, Edward Holder.

Special thanks to Nancy Kane, Patty Crownover and Sue Berros for their many years of homebound visits for communion, Ash Wednesday and Holy Days of Obligation.

Special thanks to Nelda and her late husband, David Pettyjohn, for their countless trips back and forth every week for many, many years.

Special thanks to the late Jeanette Reed in assisting Roselyn for benefits unknown with the Veterans Administration. Forever grateful.

To the ICU nurses at Erlanger: Kendra, Lisa, Tish, Heather, Christine, Briana, Crystal, Caleb and Gary, forever grateful.

The family will receive friends from 1-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 7111 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421 with Father Manuel Perez officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. A reception for the family and friends will follow the internment at the church.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
