Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area elected three community leaders to its  board of directors, Chattanooga’s Chief of Police, Fred Fletcher, Linda Mines, and Jennifer Whitaker.

Bio of new board memebers:

Chief Fred Fletcher was appointed as Chattanooga’s Chief of Police in 2014. He has 20 years of law enforcement experience in Austin, Tx. – the second safest large city in the nation.  In his leadership position, Chief Fletcher implemented community outreach programs to improve the relationships between police officers and neighborhoods.

His hands-on approach to leadership has built bridges both inside and outside of the police force. Now, as the Chief of Police for the City of Chattanooga, Chief Fletcher is committed to applying these same approaches while working with Mayor Berke on the implementation the Mayor's comprehensive public safety plan.

Linda Moss Mines, former president of  Habitat for Humanity’s Board of Directors, returns to the board after a two-year absence.  Ms. Mines is the chairman of the History and Social Sciences Department at GPS and is the official Chattanooga and Hamilton County historian.  She was recently named a Humanities Tennessee Fellow for her commitment to education, community outreach and individual scholarship.  In a partnership with the McCallie School, she and the students of GPS have helped construct sixteen Habitat houses in the Chattanooga area and the GPS students, under her leadership, have raised more than $250,000 for Habitat since 2000.

Jennifer Whitaker is a business strategist, executive coach and the founder and CEO of Executive Brilliance, an executive coaching and business consultant firm. With over 25 years of experience in a blend of counseling, management and ownership positions, Ms. Whitaker understands first hand the unique dynamics of high-performing cultures. Using this foundation of experience, she has helped transform the lives of leaders from Fortune 500 companies, governmental agencies, mid-sized and family-owned businesses and non-profit organizations. Ms. Whitaker received a master's degree in counseling from Auburn University and a doctorate degree from Columbia Theological Seminary and is a certified business coach through the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches.
