Lorene Mitchell, 70, of Charleston, TN, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2015 at the family residence.
Lorene was the daughter of the late Emma Sue Gurley Davis and Nell Herbert Davis; and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Nell Davis Jr. and Carroll J. Davis.
Lorene was a hairdresser and a seamstress most of her life. She worked for Hardwick Clothes as a seamstress with over 12 years of service. She was a very active member of the Center Point Baptist Church in Charleston. She served as its treasurer for many years and enjoyed singing! All of the Children at church gave her the nickname “Candy Lady” because she would always bring them candy to church.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Merlin Mitchell of Charleston; her daughters, Cassandra Denise Shelton and her husband Steven of Dalton, Cyndi Lea Kapla and her husband Tom of Cleveland and Jewell Dean Carner of Spartanburg, SC; her son, Timothy Allen Rader of Florida; her grandchildren, Kimberly Michelle Shelton, Aaron “Bubba” Shelton, Sherry Dawn Cook and Sarah Roberts; her great-grandchildren, David Cook and Dawson Cook; her brother, Thomas R. Davis of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. from the Center Point Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with family and friends serving as casket bearers.
