Moc Golf Team In Action Monday

  • Sunday, October 4, 2015

The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team was headed to Charleston, S.C., this week for the CSU Invitational. Due to Hurricane Joaquin’s assault on the east coast, the tournament has shifted course to Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, Ga.

The event still plans for 54 holes over two days with 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.

“The shift in venue is different, but everyone is in the same boat as us,” coach Colette Murray stated. “We're ready to get out there Monday and work on putting together three complete rounds."

While it is an unfamiliar layout for the team members, it is not for Murray. Her last visit to Chateau Elan, her 2011 squad captured the Kinderlou Forest Challenge by nine shots.

Emily McLennan, Cris Perez, Monica San Juan and Megan Woods return to the lineup with the addition of senior Isabella Loza. The Mocs tee off No. 1 beginning at 9 a.m. Loza leads off followed by San Juan, Woods, Perez and McLennan.

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team is back in action Monday at the Wolfpack Fall Open. The tournament, played at Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C., is shortened from 54 to 36 holes due to weather.

The squad heads into Monday’s 18 looking to continue its improvement made from the Carpet Capital to the Janney VCU Shootout.

"We are looking for consistency," coach Mark Guhne said. "We got off to a great start the last time out but didn't maintain that level of play. It's a great lesson for our young team. We're prepared, working hard and just focused on getting better every week."

The lineup is the same for the second straight event. Juniors Wes Gosselin and Brooks Thomas, sophomores Stuart Thomas and Andrew Weathers and freshman Lake Johnson round out this week’s squad with Kory Webb playing as an individual.
