During its monthly board meeting on Monday, the Cleveland City Board of Education approved the budget for the 2024-2025 school year. Notably, this budget includes a 5 percent pay increase for all full-time staff members within Cleveland City Schools.
Last year the Board of Education allocated an additional $2.4 million to enact pay raises across the board for full time employees, along with elevating the starting teacher salary to $50,000.
The approved budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year encompasses an elevation in the hourly rate for bus drivers, as well as the creation of additional positions to accommodate growing class sizes.
"Ensuring competitive compensation and adequate support for our dedicated staff remains a top priority," said Interim Director of Schools Kelly Kiser.
"With this budget, we affirm our commitment to valuing the hard work and dedication of our educators while also addressing the needs of our expanding student population."
