Dalton Police Seek Suspect In Bank Card Fraud

  • Wednesday, January 28, 2015

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man who used a stolen credit card to rack up more than $450 in fraudulent charges. The card was stolen from a man’s bag in an unlocked gym locker.

The theft happened sometime between 4:30 and 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 15. The male victim left his belongings unlocked in a gym locker room while he worked out. After he left, he discovered that his brown leather wallet with a large Georgia Tech “GT” logo on it had been taken from his bag.

The victim contacted his bank and discovered that his bank card had already been used three times at the outlet stores in Calhoun, Ga. The card was used for purchases totaling $320 and $69 at the Polo Ralph Lauren outlet and at the Oshkosh store for $96. A Dalton detective was able to retrieve surveillance images of the man who used the stolen card from the Polo store. He is an African American male who was dressed from hat to shoes in Nike workout attire and had white ear bud headphones on while shopping in the store. He also had what appeared to be the Nike logo shaved into the back of his hair or a birthmark.

Anyone with information on this theft or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Detective Brain Shirley at 706 278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 189.
