James “Wimpy” Henry, 90, of Chattanooga, TN, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 20, 2014.
Wimpy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After graduating from Chattanooga Central, Wimpy served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He attended the University of Chattanooga and retired from DuPont after 38 years of service. Wimpy was a long time member of Creeks Bend Golf Club and enjoyed dancing with his beautiful wife at the American Legion and VFW. He was of the Episcopal faith and a former member of St. Thaddaeus.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Mary and Tab Jones; and great-grandson, Samuel Massey Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie “Randy” Randolph Henry; daughters, Carol Massey of Hixson and Barbie (Mike) Foster of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Anna Massey (Erik Johnson), David (Latisha) Massey, James Ellison and Sarah Ellison Sommerfield; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Noah, AJ and Zachary; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Mike Foster, James Ellison, David Massey, Erik Johnson, Calvin Harrison and Skip Hunerwadel will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Lane Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
