Five Star Food Service Completes Acquisition Of Mid South Services, LLC

  • Monday, August 20, 2018

Convenience service provider Five Star Food Service Monday announces the acquisition of Mid South Services, LLC, a Canteen franchise based in Muscle Shoals, Al.

South Services has been in business since 1968 and has grown to one of the region’s top convenience service providers offering micro markets, pantry, full-line vending, premium coffee, water, dining, and catering services.

Mid South operated within a territory adjacent to Five Star. The acquisition expands Five Star’s Canteen franchise territory approximately 200 miles to the west across northern Alabama and Mississippi. Five Star will continue Mid South’s service to area cities such as Huntsville, Florence, and Decatur in Alabama and Corinth, Tupelo, and Oxford in Mississippi, among others.

Five Star will continue to operate out of Mid South’s existing branch and warehouse locations. The acquisition adds more than 70 micro markets and hundreds of vending and coffee service customers to the Five Star family.

“We are extremely excited about the potential for growth in this new market," said Alan Recher, president and CEO of Five Star Food Service. "Mid South has done well in building strong relationships and a reputation for being the best in the region. We look forward to adding Five Star’s formula for success to their business.”
