Signal Mountain High Organizes An Academic Senior Signing Day

  • Thursday, April 26, 2018
Signal Mountain High School will host a senior signing event that will start at 1 p.m. on Friday in the school gym.  "We are accustomed to seeing banners, fanfare and celebrations for athletic signing day when our top athletes select the college or university they will attend in the fall.  We want to create the same excitement around the college decisions for all seniors at the school by planning this academic signing day," officials said.

There will be 43 banners on display for the celebration, representing each college, university or military branch selected by the Signal Mountain seniors.  There will even be an undecided banner for those seniors still weighing their options for the fall.  The pep rally-style celebration will involve the entire student body of the school and honor the accomplishments of the school’s 156 seniors.  Nine seniors who graduated early are also invited back to celebrate with their classmates of the Signal Mountain High Class of 2018.

Seniors will wear a shirt bearing the name of the school they plan to attend in the fall.  Signal Mountain High faculty and staff will wear a shirt from their alma mater.  The rest of the student body can get involved by wearing a shirt representing their favorite college or university.

"The Signal Mountain community would like to make this an annual event to honor the accomplishments of all seniors as they take their next step in life prepared for success after high school," officials said.
