Ooltewah’s Kayla Boseman threw a one-hitter and struck out 16 Wednesday as the Lady Owls celebrated senior night with a 6-1 victory over Soddy-Daisy at Jim Lovell Field.
With the win Ooltewah improved to 25-5 overall and 10-1 in District 5-3A. The Lady Owls have won 11 of their last 12 games, the only loss a 2-0 decision at Walker Valley.
Now the Lady Owls turn their attention to a busy weekend in the Farragut tournament before winding up the regular season with a district game against rival East Hamilton on Monday.
Ooltewah honored six seniors – Boseman, Mabry Carpenter, Ally Chernak, Marissa Forrester, Hadley Morrow and Tyler Sullivan prior to the game.
Boseman (12-1) now has 146 strikeouts in 72 innings and she was backed with a solid offensive attack, including her own 2-for-2 effort – a double and single with one RBI.
Sydney White added two hits, including her eighth home run, and three RBIs.
Sullivan had two hits with a double and scored a run. Carpenter collected two singles in four at-bats.
