The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s outdoor track and field team placed five in the Top 10 Friday afternoon on Day One of the Emory Invitational and is currently in eighth out of 23 teams in the team standings.
Emily Poole grabbed eight points for the Mocs with a second place finish in the 10,000 meter run and posted a Southern Conference season-best time of 37:00.54. Rebekah Wich finished fifth in her first 10K with a time of 38:39.24, currently second in the league standings.
“We performed well,” Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said.
“Emily and Rebekah ran their splits to perfection and PR’d.”
The 4x800 meter relay team posted a time of 9:36.30. Katie Coker led off the race for the Mocs followed by Julia Henderson, Ashlynd Broling and Abby Bateman in the anchor leg.
Sophia Neglia led off the Distance Medley Relay with the 1200 meter followed by Nicole Buehrle’s 400. Hannah Caldwell covered the 800 meter distance with Brianna Nelson running the anchor leg 1600 meter. The team posted a time of 12:49.21.
Taylor Grayson threw a career-best 39.83 to finish seventh in the women’s weight throw, picking up two points for the Mocs. In the women’s long jump, Rebekah Bryant topped her previous best distance in the event with a 4.89 meter jump. Rebekah Hampton matched her 4.87m career-best posted earlier this season.
Host Emory leads the way with 89.75 points. Leading Cedarville who has 86 points in second place. Hope is third with 57.50 followed by Augusta with 46 in fourth place. Chattanooga is a quarter point behind Clark Atlanta with 26 points.
