Man Shot In The Leg While Standing In His Yard In East Ridge

  • Monday, March 19, 2018

A man was shot in his yard on Sunday at approximately 9:57 p.m. in the 1300 block of Altamaha.

Brad Weir, 47, told East Ridge Police he was in the backyard with his dog when he noticed a dark colored four-door sedan drive past his house, circle the block, drive by his house again and stop at the entrance to his driveway. He said his dog started barking at the car, so he put his dog in the house. He said he then approached the car, opening his driveway/yard gate and stepping to the passenger side of the vehicle.

The front passenger window rolled down, and Mr. Weir said he believes he saw two individuals in the car. He offered no description beyond that they were wearing dark colored, long sleeve clothing, possibly hoodies.

Mr. Weir said something to the effect of, “Can I help you?” and was promptly shot in the leg by the occupant(s) of the suspect vehicle which then fled the scene. Mr. Weir called police and was found by patrol on the ground where he was shot, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Mr. Weir was transported by ambulance to Erlanger. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is requested to contact the East Ridge Police Department at 867-7516.
