Ollie Mae Farris, 83, of Decatur, went to be with her Lord Saturday, March 10, 2018.

She was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee and was a life-long resident of Decatur. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening and taking care of other people. Ollie was a very faithful member of Cottonport Baptist Church. Even in times of illness you would see her in church services. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann York; her husband, James Edward Farris; two sons, Jay Henry Farris and Jimmy Farris; a sister, Betty Leamon and a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Mae Jones. 

Survivors include a son, Dan Farris of Decatur; two daughters, Libby (Larry) Johnson of Decatur and Lynn (Vernon) Ware of Red Boiling Springs; two brothers, Henry York of Washington State and John Albert York of Athens; a sister, Ruby Ricker of Athens; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Cottonport Baptist Church.

Funeral services will follow the visitation with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, in Beta Cemetery.
