The Levitt AMP Chattanooga Music Series comes to a close Thursday with songwriter and poet Seaux Chill as the main act. There will be free music from 6-8:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Bessie Smith Cultural Center.

Fusing poetry with dynamic melodies and a joyous message, Seaux Chill bridges the gap between jazz, gospel and hip-hop for an unforgettable sound that will lift your spirits and leave you inspired. Nabil Ince, stage name Seaux Chill, was born the son of a pastor in Columbia, Md., growing up surrounded by the ethereal melodies of the church. At the age of six, Ince began playing the piano and discovered his love for creating music. As he grew older, that love expanded to encompass music composition and production, as well as writing poetic lyrics to accompany his pieces. In college, he continued to hone his craft at the scenic Covenant College on Lookout Mountain. Ince has remained in Chattanooga where he has become a fixture of the local music scene, sharing his uplifting and dynamic music—that he describes as “a spontaneous rhythmic combustion.”
With his debut album, I Heard God Laughing (2015), under his belt, Ince released Freedom Ave in 2017 to glowing reviews, with Covenant College’s outlet The Bagpipe writing, “It is rare in a cultural milieu of antagonism, frustration, and political dichotomy to find a musician as positive and joyful as Seaux Chill on Freedom Ave… The potency of his lyrics come from Seaux Chill’s ability to relax with the simplicities of life, only to suddenly connect a much deeper spiritual theme with remarkable fluidity.”
In addition to his work as a musician, Ince is heavily involved with the Chattanooga-based non-profit East Lake Expression Engine, serving as the organization's program director as well as donating 10 percent of all his proceeds to the organization which provides children with access to summer music classes including choir, bucket band, musicianship and choir with the goal of developing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Opening the night will be local music artist C-Grimey and the Freedom Riders featuring vocalist Cameron Williams, Yattie Westerfield on percussion, Dakari Kelly on bass, Marcus White on keys and Everett Banks on conga drums. C-Grimey, is a Chattanooga native that has been performing since age 16. His music is inspired by everyday life and will have you engaged to not only the rhythm and beat but the lyrics as well.
