Police have charged a Red Bank man with knocking his girlfriend to the ground and dragging her across a parking lot by her hair.

Rodriquez Jones, 24, of 2614 Lyndon Ave., is charged with aggravated kidnapping and domestic assault.

On Sunday, police received several calls of a couple being involved in an altercation at several locations.

A woman said when she tried to break up with Jones that he came to her residence. She said she offered to drive him to another location to get him away from her home.

She said he became angry in the car and began hitting the interior of the vehicle.

She tried to get him out of the vehicle at a grocery on 4th Avenue near E. 23rd Street. She said after they got out of the car, Jones charged her, knocked her down and began pulling her by her hair.

The girlfriend was afraid to give the boyfriend's name, but police got it from another source.

Video from the store showed what the girlfriend had described, including Jones hitting her head on the pavement as he dragged her.

Jones was charged in June with statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was also indicted for possession of marijuana.

The indictment said Jones on March 25 engaged in sex with a girl at least 15 but less than 18.
