Margaret Brooks
Margaret Helen Brooks, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at an area hospital.
Margaret had started and ran a church bus ministry for over 10 years while residing in California. Throughout her life she devoted herself to the work of God serving as a volunteer in the community and the church as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a noted poet and member of the Poets Hall of Fame where she was honored as Poet of the Year in 2016.
Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Robert Eugene Brooks I and daughter, Sally Day.
She is survived by her children, Bruce E. Brooks (LaJuana), Bonnie L. Brooks, Barbara A. Brooks, and Bryan W. Brooks (Michelle); grandchildren, Jackie Venable, Robert Eugene Brooks II, SueAnn Logan, Cheryl Brooks-Thompson, Sunny Gardener, Holly Gray, Shenell Crabtree, James Lawson, Michael Lawson, Roy Day Jr., Kelly Day, Christopher Frank Brooks, James Brooks, Samantha Marie Brooks, Joshua Eugene Brooks, Elizabeth Margaret Brooks, and Kaleb E. J. Brown. 29 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren also survive her.
A funeral service be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Center, with the Reverend Travis Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
