Chattanooga will soon welcome its own Miracle League at Warner Park. Construction at the Rotary Field continues to make great strides, with the pouring of cement, asphalt topping for baseball/multipurpose fields complete, and current construction of beams. Opening date is set for Sept. 30 (rain date Oct. 1) at 9 a.m., and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga is now formally registering all those interested in participating in the league.
"The Miracle League, whose programming will be managed and run by the Downtown Family YMCA, will impact children and their families by providing a customized, safe environment for individuals ages 4-70 with physical or cognitive challenges to play baseball.
The new field, combined with the Miller Industries multipurpose field, will also offer a variety of fun programs throughout the year. For these children and adults, team sports will provide opportunities for them to grow physically, socially and emotionally and allow them to build social skills through peer interaction," officials said.
“This league will enrich the lives of not only the children and adults who participate in it, but also the volunteers, staff, city, and the community at large,” says Janet Dunn, president and CEO of YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga. “There are few experiences that change and impact our outlook on life. The Miracle League is one of these experiences.”
