8 Cleveland State Athletes Named National Scholar Athletes

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the national scholar athletes for the 2016-2017 season.  The Cleveland State Athletic Department announced that eight athletes were recognized for the academic achievement.

Student-athletes who maintained a 4.0 GPA for the year were named to the first team. Julia Gaither (Bradley Central) from women's basketball as well as Haley Hodgson (Cleveland) and Lakelyn Reed from softball were named to the first team.

Catherine Davis (Bledsoe County) of the women's basketball team was recognized on the second team. Students who maintained a 3.80 to 3.99 GPA were named to this team.

Third team members had to maintain a 3.60 to 3.79 GPA to be recognized.  Brandon Mason (Chattanooga Christian) and Tyler Qualls from the baseball team were honored.  Also Breanna Dunsmore and Mekala White of the softball team were selected to the third team.
