D-II Prep Baseball: McCallie Sweeps Two From MBA

Dane Beard was 4 for 6 with four RBIs and Ethan Bain was 6 for 8 wth one RBI to lead host McCallie to a doubleheader sweep of MBA Friday in a D-II Middle/Est Region baseball game.

McCallie won 12-11 and 7-1 to improve to 10-9-1 overall and 4-7 in region play, while MBA is

8-12 overall and 4-7 in region. The two teams meet again Saturday at 10 a.m.

Game 1: McCallie 12-11 … Dane Beard was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Ethan Bain was 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead the Blue Tornado to the win. Chan Center was the winning pitcher in relief.

MBA led 9-4 after three innings, but McCallie scored five in the fourth and three more in the fifth for the win.

MBA’s Brad Slinger was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs.

Game 2: McCallie 7, MBA 1 … Dan Beard (2 for 3, 3RBIs) and Ethan Bin (3 for 4) also led McCallie in hitting in the second game and Cameron Costo was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Starter Corbin Brooksbank picked up the win allowing two hits with nine strikeouts in five innings of work.

MBA’s Ben Coulthard and Ben Evans had hits.
