Covenant's Bloye Tabbed As USA South Player Of The Week

  • Monday, March 27, 2017
Covenant baseball junior Caleb Bloye has been named the USA South Player of the Week, for the period ending March 26, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.

The honor is the first weekly award garnered by Bloye since his freshman year, and the first player of the week honor of his career.
Bloye is the second Covenant baseball player to pick up a weekly accolade from the USA South this year.

A junior from Dallas, Ga., Bloye helped the Scots to a 2-2 record last week by hitting .643 (9-for-14) with a .714 on-base percentage and a .786 slugging percentage to go along with four runs scored, three RBIs, two doubles, four walks and five stolen bases. Bloye was 2-for-5 with a steal and a run scored in a loss to Oglethorpe last Tuesday before going a combined 7-for-9 with three runs scored, three RBIs, two doubles, four walks and four stolen bases in the Scots' series win at William Peace.

On the year, Bloye is hitting .292 with three homers, 17 RBIs, 13 runs scored and 10 steals. The junior is currently riding a season-best nine-game hitting streak and has six multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games for the season.

Covenant (10-15, 3-9 USA South) is back in action on Tuesday at home against Berry. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
