Gussie Studvant, 92, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, in a local hospital. 

She was a member of Church of Jesus and was employed by the Church of Jesus Daycare Center as a nursery supervisor. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Studvant; parents, Augustus and Bertha Burney; brothers, Lamar, Arthur, Josh, and Johnson Burney. 

Survivors include her devoted daughter, Shirley (Calvin) Thomas; grandchildren, Sheila Madden, Stephen James, Ruth Grantley, Ronald Madden, all of Chattanooga, Floyd (Tamara) James of Dallas, TX, and Jonathan (Erica) Thomas of Tuskegee, Al; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Grantley of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. 

She will lie in state on Sunday, April 2, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Monday, April 3, at 10 a.m. in the chapel with Elder Mark Newson as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
