The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) has presented its Marcum Award to Wayne Hixson, of Hixson, Tn.
The presentation was made at an awards banquet in Indianapolis.
Mr. Hixson, 70, is a long-time racing team owner.
ARCA President Ron Drager said of the recipient, "He is an ARCA team owner who first raced with us in 1988. Since then, his race team, sometimes with as many as four cars in a single race, has fielded 662 race cars in starting fields of ARCA Racing Series races. He has raced full-time in the series since 1999 -- 402 consecutive races. His son drove his cars to become the 1999 Rookie of the Year."
The Vietnam veteran who still operates a construction firm is the recipient of three Purple Stars.
