Cleveland To Get Bus Service To Chattanooga Under Federal Grant

  • Thursday, January 19, 2017

Cleveland, Tn., will be getting bus service to Chattanooga under a federal grant.

The city was notified recently that the Tennessee Department of Transportation selected its proposal for funding under the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program.

Tanisha J. Hall, state long range planning division director, said, "The Cleveland-Chattanooga Commute Hub project will help reduce mobile source emissions and improve our state's air quality."

The project will be funded with $1,356,000 in federal funds for three fiscal years.

Ms. Hall said, "Funding for this project will be determined by the amount of CMAQ funds that TDOT receives, and how quickly you request to start the federal obligation process."

The Cleveland buses will be operated by SETHRA.

They will go to the Enterprise South Industrial Park as well as a second location - likely downtown.

At each location, there will be a connection with CARTA buses.
