Lou Damewood
Lou B. Damewood, 91, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
She was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church. Mrs. Damewood was a Girl Scout leader in the 1950s. She worked 17 years at JC Penneys and retired from Fowler Brothers after 20 years of service. Mrs. Damewood was an avid knitter and interior designer. She was past president of ABWA and past president of Interior Design Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Damewood; daughter, Linda Damewood; granddaughter, Yvonne Crumley; parents, Lou and Earl Alexander; and sister, Margaret Cureton.
Survivors include her children: Gerald L. Damewood (Isiah) of Memphis, Lesley E. Damewood (Charlotte) of Chattanooga and Lillian Wells of Hixson; brother, Bill A. Alexander (Nancy) of Hammond, La.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Reverend Ronnie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace, 877-3524, www.lanefh.com.
