Shelby Glisson
The sisters of Theta Phi Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, invite the campus community, alumni, friends, and family to a special service to celebrate the life of their adored sister, Shelby Rene Glisson.
The memorial and candlelight vigil will be held at Patten Chapel on Tuesday, beginning at 8 p.m.
Shelby passed away on February 4, 2016, following complications from a lung transplant. A true warrior, Shelby demonstrated tremendous strength, resilience, and courage in all she faced. She leaves this world a better and brighter place.
Shelby was an honor student at Friendship Christian from Lebanon, Tn. She joined Sigma Kappa in 2012 and remains the heart of their strong sisterhood. She brought steadfast love, encouragement, and joy to those that knew her, and leaves a lasting legacy of hope in hearts of so many. During her membership she was elected the Sisterhood chairman, served on the New Member Committee, and received the Living Our Values Award, Sister of the Week, Super Sigma Award, and the Coat of Arms Award for achieving a 4.0 G.P.A. She was a member of the Nurses Association, pursuing a degree in nursing and volunteered with the Chattanooga Area Alzheimer’s Association and New Leash on Life.
The chapter would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support from the staff of the Office of Student Development, the Greek community, Sigma Kappa sisters from across the country, and our dedicated alumnae. Her sisters offer their deepest condolences and love to her adoring parents and extended family, cherished friends from Lebanon, and the talented nurses and doctors that have cared for Shelby over the years.
Per her family’s request, donations in Shelby’s memory can be made to New Leash on Life (507 Jim Draper Blvd, Lebanon, TN 37087) and/or the Shelby Glisson Memorial Scholarship at Cumberland University (1 Cumberland Square, Lebanon, TN 37087).
