Boater Safety Course Offered At The Chattanooga Boat And Sport Show

  • Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Boating season is quickly approaching and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency wants the public to be ready. One can sign up for the boating safety course offered at the Chattanooga Boat and Sport Show this Saturday, at 9 a.m. Entry to the show is free after completion of the course.

Boater safety courses provide operators with the best knowledge to help them have a safe, enjoyable boating season. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1989, and operating a motorized vessel of more than 8.5 horsepower, is required by law to take the safety course.

Anyone born before Jan. 1, 1989, is not required to have education. However, completion of the Tennessee course most often provides reciprocity with other states that require boater education. Completion can also earn discounts on watercraft insurance. Attendees must bring a TWRA Type 600 exam permit.

Register at https://twra.state.tn.us/BoatingEducationStudentRegistration/ Passcode is CBS.
