The Alzheimer’s Association Hosts 3rd Annual Run To Remember 5K

  • Thursday, November 5, 2015
The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Chattanooga and the surrounding area to participate in our 3rd annual Run to Remember 5K on Nov. 21 at Tennessee Riverpark. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The run will follow at 9 a.m.

The run route is certified by the Chattanooga Track Club. Each registered participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Immediately following the run, awards will be presented to the Male and Female Overall, Masters and Grand Masters. The top three runners in each age category will also receive an award.

Run to Remember is an opportunity for the community to help raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association and their mission to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

“We are very excited about how this event continues to grow,” shares Cindy Lowery, senior vice president of the Alzheimer’s Association Mid South Chapter.
“Run to Remember provides those affected by Alzheimer’s disease another opportunity to come together to honor their loved ones while raising awareness of this disease that affects more than 110,000 Tennesseans.”

Ms. Lowery continues to say that this 5K is an option for those individuals who may not have been able to attend Walk to End Alzheimer’s in September or who may enjoy running a 5K more than participating in a walk.

Last year the event raised more than eight thousand dollars. In its third year, the event is more than halfway to their $10,000 goal. Runners can continue to sign up online at act.alz.org/chattanoogarun or can register on-site that morning.

The Alzheimer’s Association would like to invite the community to the event whether to run, show support or volunteer. For information about Run to Remember, call the Alzheimer’s Association office at 423-265-3600.
