Thomas Clark
Thomas Russell Clark III, 83, died at his home on October 27, 2016, with his family by his side.
He was born on June 24, 1933, in Columbus, GA. He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company after 41 years of service, and enjoyed traveling the world as well as tending to his beautiful gardens filled with double daylilies and Confederate azaleas.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Russell Clark Jr. and Agnes Buchanan Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Duke Clark; brothers, James Clark (wife, Carole Clark) and Ted Clark (wife, Pat Clark); daughters, Julie Boydston (husband, Gerald Boydston) and Cindi Rote (husband, Russell Rote); grandchildren, AJ Boydston, Haley Porter, Zac Porter, and Thomas Boydston; and great grandchild, Liam Clark Boydston.
Tom was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, and was a member of Sammy Gooden’s Sunday School Class. The members of Sammy Gooden’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 31, from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. preceding the funeral at 1 p.m. at The North Chapel in Hixson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to Hixson United Methodist Church’s Organ Fund.
