The Lee University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Andy Harnsberger, will perform on Sunday, along with guest artist Dr. Colin Hill. The performance will take place at 3 p.m. in Lee’s Conn Center.

The concert will feature Dr. Hill’s performance of “Slopes” by Paul Rennick. Michael Laurello’s “Spine” will also be performed, featuring graduate student Ivan Trac. Nebojsa Zivkovic’s “Trio per Uno” and Patrick Long’s “Strange Loops” will also be presented, among others.

An active performer, Dr. Hill has been invited to present concerts throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He performs regularly with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra, TTU Faculty Jazz Combo, BluHill Percussion Duo and the Nief-Norf Project.

Dr. Hill is an assistant professor of percussion studies at Tennessee Tech University where he teaches private lessons, percussion methods, percussion pedagogy and literature, drum line, percussion ensemble, and music theory. He has appeared as a guest artist and clinician at universities and high schools throughout the U.S. and has been published in several scholarly journals.

Lee’s Percussion Ensemble performs challenging and interesting percussion literature, involving a wide variety of percussion instruments. The group has rapidly developed a reputation for musical excellence and expertise, said officials.

Dr. Harnsberger, assistant professor of music and percussion coordinator at Lee, is active throughout the year as a freelance percussionist and recitalist. He is a performing artist and clinician for Malletech mallets and musical instruments, Remo Drum Heads, Sabian Cymbals, Ltd., and Grover Pro Percussion.

Dr. Harnsberger earned a doctorate of musical arts in performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he also received the prestigious Performer's Certificate.

The concert is open to the public and free of charge.  For more information, contact the Lee University School of Music at 614-8240 or at music@leeuniversity.edu. The ensemble can also be followed on Facebook.
