Woods Fire Breaks Out Near Lookout Mountain Hang Gliding Venue

A woods fire broke on Sunday night near the Lookout Mountain hang gliding venue, and it was continuing to burn on Monday.

The blaze, that started around 10 p.m., was near Scenic Highway and Fox Trail.

Georgia Forestry officials said an abandoned home and a radio tower for Dade County were in the line of the fire.

Crews from West Brow and New Salem were aiding Georgia Forestry in trying to hold the fire in check.

It was on the west rim of Lookout Mountain and edging toward Scenic Highway.
